GIFT AID AT ST MATTHEWS
The parish is supported by many who donate on a regular basis and their unwavering generosity helps make St Matthew’s a special place for worship. If you would like to join them, we have several ways in which you can help.
Gift Aid Donations
The government’s Gift Aid scheme is a marvellous and painless way of bolstering parish funds. If you are a taxpayer and you’re able to ‘Gift Aid’ your donations, this allows the parish to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate.
By signing a Gift Aid declaration form (here) you can become a regular ‘Gift Aider’ to help us claim these additional funds. Rest assured it’s completely confidential and you don’t need to tell anyone about your level of income. You can become a Gift Aider at any time during the financial year.
Once you’ve completed the declaration, you can decide to make regular contributions in a variety of ways: by standing order; by cash using donation envelopes, or both if you prefer.
If you choose to set up a standing order to make regular donations, details of the parish bank account can be found below.
If cash is your preferred way of making donations, we’ll provide you with a box of envelopes marked with your own dedicated number. These numbers are important as they enable us to keep a record of your donations for tax purposes.
Regular Donations without Gift Aid
Of course, setting up a standing order, whether or not you wish to Gift Aid, is a great way of making regular donations to the parish. To help set up a standing order details can be found below.
If you’re not a Gift Aider but would still like a box of envelopes to make regular cash donations, there’ll be some available at the back of church for you to take whenever you wish. These won’t be numbered, as there’s not a requirement to record these donations for tax purposes, but do feel free to pick one up if you’d like.
Standing Orders
The details below can be used to set up a new standing order. If you already have internet banking this can be done online of course. Alternatively, you can fill out a direct debit mandate by clicking here and take it along to your local branch.
